The Hooded Vase started as a simple sketch in the iPad app Paper. I then modeled it using Autodesk Maya, which was quite painful to do. Maya is great, but it is not made for CAD design. Things are a lot easier today with programs like Autodesk's Fusion 360.
The Hooded Vase is an introvert and somewhat gloomy vase with the look of a hoodee.
The shape of the hood enables a directed positioning that reserves the view of the flower for your eyes only, much like the dashboard controls of an Alfa Romeo.
I printed the vase at Shapeways, and I was really impressed with the finish on the ceramic 3D print.
